Nissan has already promised that they will unveil an electric car prototype. Well, now we find out it’s scheduled to be presented in August. It is a medium-sized five door powered by Li-Ion batteries. The debut will be made at the Tokyo motor show. The HQ from Yokohama, Japan, will be opened on August 2.
The production for Nissan’s new electric vehicle is set to begin at the end of 2010, in Japan. The plans are to produce about 50,000 cars initially, but they will only be sold in Japan by 2010, extending globally in 2012.
The U.S. government funded Nissan North America with $1.6 billion to upgrade a factory in Smyrna, Tennessee, for building their electric cars and also a Li-Ion factory. The expected output from the U.S. factory is of more than 100,000 electric cars.
