The Future Of EVs’ Charging Could Be Through Their Tires

Professor Takashi Ohira and his team of researchers at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Information Engineering of the Toyohashi University of Technology seem to believe the electric vehicles (EVs) could be charged through their tires.

This technology was demonstrated in Yokohama, Japan, at a trade show focusing on wireless technologies during this year’s Wireless Technology Park (WTP). The goal of their demonstration was to show how electricity could be transmitted to  pair of tires through concrete. Continue reading

The Clean Vehicle Rebate California Project Receives a $27 million boost

The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) in California has received new $27 million boost in funding from the Air Resources Board and a further $5 million from the California Energy commission. An additional $10 million in incentives is expected to be effected for hybrid and zero-emission buses and trucks. $2 million more will be utilized in creating high-tech demonstration projects for commercialization of new cars, motorcycles and equipment. Audi has finally revealed that its upcoming Audi R8 e-tron lapped the legendary Nurburgring circuit in Germany in an impressive 469 seconds (8 minutes 9 seconds). This is just 5 seconds slower than the company’s conventional 424bhp 4.2 liter V8 powered Audi R8 driven by Marcus Winkelhock (former grand prix driver) during a very recent round of test drives on the famous circuit.

The Opel Ampera: Europe’s Best-selling EV in May

The Opel Ampera comes in with amazing features as Europe’s number one electric vehicle driven without range-anxiety. Doubling as sibling to the renowned Chevy Volt, it was also announced this week as Europe’s best performing electric passenger vehicle in the market commanding a share of above 20% in the continent.

Germany Likely To Miss 2020 Electric Vehicles Target

An ever ambitious Germany had set its target for electric cars on its roads at one million by 2020, but this might not finally work out as planned if there will be no additional incentives.
